2.2. Preparation of destarched corn fiber
The starch from corn fiber was eliminated prior to extrusion by
using thermostable Liquozyme supra enzyme (Donghee Co. Ltd.,
Korea). One kilogram of corn fiberwas suspended in 10 L of distilled
water and the pH of the mixture was adjusted to 5.3e6.0 by using
6 N NaOH. Liquozyme supra (10% v/w)was added and reacted in the
autoclave at 121 C for 2 h (Gaspar et al., 2007). After hydrolysis, the
supernatant was decanted; the solid residue was washed with
distilled water to pH 7, and dried at 50 C in an oven for 24 h.
