Occupant characteristics
FTE and transient occupancy totals were obtained from the directors of each building and the university’s space tracking and reporting system. This system tracks all of the courses scheduled on campus and records the number of students registered for each course (University of Florida, 2013). Utilizing these resources it was determined that Building A contained 45 FTE’s and 894 transient occupants. A total of 117 occupants in Building A completed and submitted a response to the Occupant IEQ Survey. Of the total responses, 17 (14.5 percent) were collected from FTE occupants and 100 (85.5 percent) were transient occupants. The average ages in years for FTE and transient users were 54 and 25, respectively. It was also noted that nine (53 percent) of the FTE occupants had maintained their current workspaces for over six years and all transient respondents had occupied their workstations for a minimum of three months. Of the total number of FTE user responses, 12 (71 percent) were provided from males and five (29 percent) were from females. Finally, of the total number of transient users responses, 41 (41 percent) were provided from males and 59 (59 percent) were from females.
Building B contained seven FTE’s and 204 transient occupants. A total of 111 occupants in Building B completed and submitted a response to the Occupant IEQ Survey. Of the total responses two (1.8 percent) were collected from FTE occupants and 109 (98.2 percent) were collected from transient users. Additionally, the average age in years for FTE and transient users was 44.5 and 19.5, respectively. FTE occupants indicated that half had maintained their workspaces for 18 months and half had
