Digital Readout It is recommended that digital readout of all test parameters be provided for at each laboratory testing station. For triaxial testing, this would require three individual digital indicators reading load. deformation. and pore water pressure values. Alternatively. one digital indicator able to select between the three different test parameters may be used. With such a digital readout at each work station. the technician is able to system set the test and monitor the initial test results to ensure that up the equipment is performing properly. Further. digital readout provides an opportunity for the technician to take readings at various stages of the test to check that the actual measured values are being stored in the measurement system. Such a check on test results is essential if test errors are to be avoided. It is important that the amplifier and digital readout system be provided with calibration signals that the technician can use to ensure that the test transducers are accurately calibrated before each test. Simple push-button switches that give an offset reading on the digital meter are an effective way to provide such calibration and the use of these calibration signals before each test should become part of the test procedure.
