The AC143 CBRN System includes an inertial separator, the scavenge air for which is provided by an impeller that shares a common motor drive shaft with the Main Fan impeller. The Main Fan impeller draws the air through the inertial separator and the CBRN Filter prior to discharging it into the vehicle.
This CBRN system uses the AMETEK AC161 variant of the UK No.1 Mk. 4 Composite CBRN Filter, as approved by the UK CBRN Authority at Dstl Porton Down.
The AC143 CBRN System is in current service in a tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicle application, in service in the Armed Forces of Austria and Spain, and a variant of it was used in a UK prototype Light Tank application.
