Mr. Gabriel John Utterson
Utterson is a reputable and highly-regarded lawyer, as well as a close friend of Dr. Henry Jekyll (Utterson is the chief executor of Jekyll’s will) and Dr. Hastie Lanyon. Utterson’s scrupulous personality inclines toward the serious and grave, though he tolerates the moral digressions of others and often approaches their misdeeds with an air of envious curiosity. Utterson is the key investigator of the Jekyll-Hyde conundrum.
