CB is often overwhelming and has been identified as occurring more frequently
among women caregivers and those who live alone and have a poor relationship
with the care-recipient [13], and has been accompanied by a higher than average
consumption of antidepressants among primary caregivers [8, 14]. Comparative
studies of effects according to gender indicate that fue incidence of depression in
female caregivers appears to be linked to an increase in behavioral problems
among those with AD, with women consistently being reported as having higher
rates of emotional problems related to caregiving, including anxiety and depression
[15, 16]. Depression has also been linked to a lack of clinical, social, and
psychological support and the demands of caring in addition to working outside
the home or having conflicting responsibilities such as children [14, 17].
