As you've been told, the exam will contain 4 parts: listening/screening, reading, grammar, and writing. Let's start with part one.
Listening: you should familiarize yourself with ALL the listening conversation in the textbook (your sheets) from unit 1 through 3. You will be provided with words. However, the words will be more than needed --- meaning if there are ten blank spaces to fill in, you might get 15 words to choose from. So don't panic if you don't use all the words.
Screening: you have seen an example of a video clip during the last class. It will be similar. The clip will be animation. I recommend you pay very close attention to what is written on the clip itself. Also, you'll need to be able to synthesize/summarize the information from the clip. Just like our Comma Story example.
Reading: if you regular read Tech Insider, Ars Technica, or any other technology blogs AND you understand most of the articles, you will do fine in this part. The reading will be about one page with five questions for you to answer. This part is NOT a multiple choice. You will need to write down the answer. My suggestion is to find the keywords in the paragraph and use them wisely. DO NOT directly copy everything from it. ctrl+c / ctrl+v writing style will get zero point in this part.
Grammar: in the language sections throughout the three units. MORE ON THAT LATER.
Writing: it will be similar to one of the writing assignment you have done in this class.
The point distribution for each part is 30, 20, 30, and 20 in that order.
You can post any questions or comments here. I'll answer them as best and as fast as I can
