New Yorkers walking along the Hudson River yesterday were amazed to sea a large airplane ‘land’ on the freezing river.
The accident happened when a jet with 155 people on board flew into a flock of birds and lost power in both engines. The pilot, charley B.Sullenberger III, brought the plane down onto the river. Luckily, there were many boats nearby at the time. They immediately came toward the plane. passengers were quickly guided out onto the wings of the plane by the flight crew and taken into the boats All 155 people were rescued.
After learning that everyone was safe, Captain Sullen Berger said, “I felt the weight of the universe was lifted off my heart.”
