Security is a factor in that monitoring systems may have access to machines
or data that can be abused by an attacker. Or, it may be possible
for an attacker to spoof a real-time monitoring system by sending
messages that indicate a problem with a server or a service. Strong authentication
between the server and the client is best. Older monitoring
protocols, such as SNMPv1, have weak authentication.
