Traditional mechanism (TM). The traditional mechanism isan initial process to observe the existing behavior of the commu-nity in terms of whether and how they separate their organic waste. In this process, clearly labeled organic waste collector tanks wereplaced next to the common collecting bins in the community. Thestudy design ensured that one tank was provided to every 20 house-holds in the community. Data were collected at this stage, as shownin Section 2.3, and used as a baseline for the comparison of theefficiencies of the mechanisms tested in this study.
