As shown in Figure 3, the susceptibilities of pulps produced from hemp (Hs36, Hw-nr, Hbf3) to TCF bleaching were surprisingly higher than that of birch pulp, with a brightness of the hemp pulps after bleaching of 88-91%, compared with only approximately 85 and 82% for birch- and pine pulps, respectively. As observed after chlorine dioxide bleaching, the Hw-r pulp had a demonstrably lower susceptibility to bleaching again.
