5.1.4. Headaches
Ventilation is essential in creating a comfortable working
environment in the electroplating areas, as it serves
to bring fresh, cool air into a room and remove noxious
fumes. Our findings show that a major cause of
headaches is heavy usage of chemicals in the plating
process. For certain activities, there is a legal requirement
to provide a minimum level of ventilation.
P¨ontinen and T¨ahti (2002) specify the minimum levels
of ventilation for new buildings. To improve the
ventilation of the environment, it was concluded in
Section 4.4.4. that the ventilation in the plating room
is not sufficient, so two exhaust fans of 2,772m3/hwere
added, thus totaling an ACPH equivalent of 13.8 times
(15,544 m3/h). Adding these fans has improved the air
circulation of the environment.
