This study represents further evidence of the need for increased trace ability, in terms of our ability to trace and follow a fish through all stages of production, processing and distribution (Reg.EC 178/2002), and assessment of the authenticity of seafood products. Fish mislabeling is widespread throughout the world. Infact, cases of fraudulent mislabeling of lesservalued species (masquerading as more valuable species) are becoming more commonas commercial quotas on certain high-value species become morerestrictive in the world
