Analyzing the results obtained at 30 days after sowing (Table 3) general improvement of pigment assimilation content was noted in the presence of tested solutions. The highest stimulatory effect on pigment assimilation by plants was measured in the presence of DDW + SB (Chl a concentration was with 68.84% higher than for control, Chl b content increases with 133.38% and carotene content is higher with 116.57% compared with control). Significantly increased values were registered also in the presence of spruce bark extract – SB1, these being higher with 59.83% for Chl a, 78.16% for Chl b and 40.40% higher than control in the case of carotene pigment content. The utilization of spruce bark extracts (both SB2 and SB1) enhances the biosynthesis of assimilatory pigment accumulation in sunflower plants, and the differences can be correlated with polyphenolic extract concentrations.
