The cause of stunting disease is phytoplasma which are mainly transmitted through use of infected planting materials and insect vectors. The findings of the present study was based on the hypothesis that insects feeding on the diseased surrounding material will also feed on the healthy accessions planted in the middle and hence transmit the phytoplasma. This was purely based on a chance scenario. In order to find a long term solution of variety/varieties resistant to stunting disease, there is need for the following studies to be undertaken.
