Significant (p < 0.05) differences were found among treatments for
KUE in both sugarcane cultivars (Table 4). Applied NaCl (80 mM) reduced
KUE by 66% in salt sensitive cultivar and 54% in salt tolerant cultivar as
compared to the control treatment. Application of different levels of K2SO4
substantially and significantly enhanced KUE in salt sensitive and salt tolerant
cultivars at both NaCl levels compared to the plants under saline conditions
without K availability. KUE was negatively correlated with shoot Na concentration
in both sugarcane cultivars (R2 = 0.72 for salt sensitive and R2 = 0.66
for salt tolerant cultivars) at different levels of NaCl and K (Figure 5).
