Allocation of activities to locations should be based on the carrying
or assimilative capacity of the environment for a given use,
protection of community resources, rehabilitation of degraded
habitats, stakeholder needs and mechanisms for conflict resolution
(Primavera, 2006). Thus coastal zoning can ensure harmonious and
sustainable shrimp farming in the region. It has been recommended
by Deb (1998) that in the south-eastern coastal areas of
Bangladesh, shrimp farming should be exercised only in the
monsoon season (MayeNovember).
