We had a bunch of us go to Yangon for some sightseeing. When we got there, we saw Airforce 2 parked ont he tarmac. Hillary must be still waiting for our arrival!!
Getting to the hotel from the airport took us about 40 minutes due to the increased traffic. It wasnt like that a year before. We got to the hotel and it checking in was a breeze. The rooms were large with two queen size bed. But it was a smoking room. We could still smell the smoke but since we were only there to sleep, it was ok.
Breakfast was good as any international spread. I especially liked the Myanmar noodles which was cooked fresh. The broth was delicious.
We did not get to explore the hotel (much as we had liked to) as we were out early and came back late. The rooms were alway well cleaned up, new bottles of mineral water placed in and the new bottle soap, cream etc were placed in.
Only hiccup was that a family booked for a suite but they mistakenly gave a deluxe room instead. When they found out, they simply charge the family the normal rate and than placed them in a suite. No hassle but next time, when you go ensure that you get what you have paid for!!
At USD83 per night, it was a very good price for the group.
PS: We didnt get to meet with Hillary. Our schedules clashed so we had to postpone it!!
Room Tip: If you're a non-smoker, specifically ask for a non-smoking room.
