The questionnaire also included demographic information
about farm size and respondent's age, education and training background.
An inventory of crops produced on each farm was made alongside
responses to enquiries about which crops required the most
frequent applications of protective chemicals. Respondents were also
asked to indicate the sources of information they used when deciding
whether to make pesticide applications to their crops. An inventory of
pesticides was taken at each farm noting the trade name and the active
ingredient of each pesticide found. Observations of pesticide handling
and the use of safety equipment were also recorded.
