We modified the PARTS question structure to ask only four of the nine
questions per item for this study to capture areas most likely to be affected by the
intervention: time spent in the activity per day, satisfaction with performance, how much
help was needed from another person, and how often special equipment was used. These
items provided measurement of three components of participation: temporal (frequency and
duration), evaluative (choice, satisfaction, and importance), and support (help from someone
else or assistive devices). These three components were combined into a total participation
score.
