Fresh pears (Pyrus bretschneideri Read.) of fine quality were
purchased from a local supermarket in Nanjing, China. Pears were
washed with tap water, then dried and cut into small pieces. Stem,
seed and bruised portions were discarded. Pear juice was extracted
by juice extractor MJ-M176P (Panasonic Manufacturing Berhad,Selangor, Shah Alam, Malaysia). After filtration using sterilized
double layered muslin cloth, the juice was vortex mixed and stored
in 100 mL pre-sterilized media bottles (which were covered with
the aluminum foil to avoid possible oxidation) at 4
C till further
analysis.
