You’re intelligent, creative, and talented. You did everything right in art school. But you cannot seem to make any money with that talent...
Do you have to drown in debt to do creative work?
Do you need to starve to cultivate talent?
Can you only pursue interesting things at the expense of making money?
Maybe you’re thinking, “I knew it. Mom knew this would happen. There’s a reason ‘starving artist’ is such a cliche.” Maybe you’re not good enough? Or there are already too many artists out there?
So let’s get this out of the way right now:
The stereotype of the starving artist just isn’t true.
Art school taught you art. It taught you design. In fact, it trained you so well you assumed it’s enough to be very good.
You know where much of the prototype of the starving artist comes from? Art school. It taught you art, but not what to do with it. The business side of it. The part that makes you money.
Extremely dangerous. You can spend all your life training to be the best artist in the world and never make any money.
"I found the offering to be clear, concise, and very honest about the “job” of being a freelance artist. There is a ton of information that will help you go from “aspire” to “hired”
This is 5 hours of content that contains some of the most honest appraisals about what it takes to make a career for yourself—it clearly lays out the challenges, and provides ideas for overcoming those hurdles. This is priceless information!" Jon Schindehette (Senior Creative Director at Wizards of the Coast)
But not because people won’t pay for it.
Yes, people value art. You can make a living off yours. Fact is your talent is very valuable to certain people.
What is NOT a fact is that if you build it, they will come. You need to find “them.” Then you need to sell it to them. Selling may not come naturally to you. (It rarely does for anyone) Now the good news is...
You can learn how
Can you imagine the sheer relief from paying off your student loans? How about the wonder of traveling overseas for three months? Wanna do that while pursuing your art?
In other words, do you want to live the artist’s dream?
Noah Bradley thought so too. So that’s what he did. Oh, also because he never wanted to be a starving artist.
You want to prove to everybody - and to yourself - that you were right all along:
It is possible to make money as an artist.
You did not waste your talent and all that potential doing useless things.
People do value (and pay for) your craft.
You can and you will. And you can probably figure it all out yourself in a few years…
What’s that? You don’t have “a few years?”
Then you’ve come to the right place. Got a guy you should meet if you want a “just right” expert to hold your hand and guide you to freelancing success. “Just right” because…
That an artist is good doesn’t mean he can teach.
You know how the better experts are, the suckier they teach? ‘Cause they’ve been doing it so long, they’ve forgotten what it’s like to be a clueless beginner.
So Noah, he’s a “just right” expert. He’s had a successful freelance business for over 5 years. Just enough so you know he didn’t just get lucky. But isn’t such a pro he’s forgotten how horrible it feels at first, trying to break into the industry.
I emphasize this because there are so many experts teaching beginners, but who have completely forgotten what it’s like to be one. So it becomes a brain dump. Full of useful but overwhelming information. And completely useless for you.
This isn’t one of those.
So if you say thanks but no thanks to being a “starving artist”...
Here’s everything you should’ve learned in art school
It’s the ONE class not offered in Art School that would’ve made it profitable.
"We thought that with hard work and persistence we would be exceptions to the rule, but we received little guidance in how to apply ourselves to the business side of illustration. Noah’s lecture provided a more effective rundown of freelancing basics than four years of art school." - Aldo Katayanagi, Illustrator
The Art of Freelancing is just like a full class in art school. But it’s online so you can learn in bed. In pajamas. It will teach you how to turn your talent into a profitable career. It’s your answer to, “I know all this stuff. Great! What do I do next?”
It contains everything you need. Starting from the very beginning… What exactly is freelancing?
So what exactly does it contain? For starters, it’s 5 hours of lectures and stories in video. You get answers and clarity to everything you kinda knew you need, but had no idea how to learn, such as:
What is freelancing?
How do you know if you’re ready?
How do you break into the industry?
How much should you charge?
What should I put in my portfolio?
Should I work for free?
They also contain the essential “you don’t know you don’t know” stuff. You need to know these. They will boost your confidence and help you avoid mistakes (sometimes costly and heartbreaking), like:
How do I deal
