Plants were hand-harvested on 15 October in 2013 and 16October in 2014. The measurement of grain yield and yield com-ponents was followed the procedure as described by Yoshida et al.(1976). Plants in two rows on each side of the plot were discardedto avoid border effects. Grain yield was determined from a harvestarea of 6.0 m2in each plot and adjusted to 14% moisture. Above-ground biomass and yield components, i.e., the number of paniclesper square meter, number of spikelets per panicle, percentage offilled grains, and 1000-grain weight, were determined from plantsof 0.8 m2(excluding the border ones) sampled randomly from eachplot. The percentage of filled grains was defined as the filled grains(specific gravity ≥ 1.06 g cm−3) as a percentage of total number ofspikelets.
