Mr Tanada said the global economy still faced myriad risks from China's economic conditions and the turmoil in the Middle East. Newly appointed executive vice-president Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont said TMT was still committed to investing in the second phase of eco-car production in Thailand. The company won the Board of Investment's approval in late 2014. However, TMT remains reluctant to resume assembly of the hybrid Prius after suspending production at its Chachoengsao factory last August. Thai authorities allege Toyota understated taxes by claiming the hybrid car was a completely knocked-down vehicle despite it importing most finished parts from Japan for assembly.
