The main objective of this study was to develop an integrated advanced reductive/oxidative process for the degradation of an azo dye using nZVI and oxidation processes.
The reductive degradation of the azo dye, Orange II, was investigated using nZVI that was synthesized in the laboratory. The effects of pH and nZVI dosage on the degradation of Orange II were also investigated. In addition,
nZVI pre-reduction was integrated with H2O2 oxidation process to enable more efficient degradation of Orange II. The effects of nZVI pre-reduction on the following oxidation of the azo dye and the reaction pathway of the prereduction/oxidation were also investigated.
