Development of resistant cultivars against M. grisea is one of
the major challenges for rice breeders (Ou 1985). However,
identification and molecular mapping of blast resistance genes
against Indian blast isolates has not received sufficient attention.
Thus, breeding for high yielding and blast-resistant
varieties will be greatly facilitated if tightly linked markers are
made available. A durable blast resistance donor, Tadukan,
was selected for molecular mapping of resistance gene(s)
against the isolate B157, using SSLP and AFLP markers. The
phenotypic data in the F2 generation indicated segregation of
the single dominant blast resistance gene against the isolate
