The most common nano-particle employed in this field is
Na–MMT which significantly increased resistance of biopolymers
against water, improved mechanical properties and decreased
permeability [11,12].
The current research focus on some aspects of using Na–MMT
to reinforcing the biopolymer. The central composite design
(CCD) at three levels combined with response surface methodology
(RSM) has been applied in this investigation. The effects of Na–
MMT and glycerol on transparency, hydrophobicity and reduction
in UV transmittance of corn starch films were studied.
