Association between EQ5D utility and Euroqol VAS scores
The EQ5D utility and Euroqol VAS scores correlated well (Pearson coefficient 0.633, P _ 0.001; Spearman coefficient 0.639, P_0.001), although a low or high score on one scale did not necessarily mean a low or high score on the other scale. In fact, many patients with a relatively low EQ5D utility score had a tendency to report a moderate Euroqol VAS score. The relationships regarding age, sex, use of insulin, obesity, and the presence
of complications were similar for the two quality-of-life measures (Table 1).
