In effect, this antenna looks like a long transmission line. Around 600 S2 is usually optimal, and with such a termination you get the pattern shown in Fig 22-17. The terminated rhombic makes an excellent HF, or even VHF, direc-tional antenna that can be built at low cost. It does take up a lot of space compared a Yagi, however, and does have a narrow beamwidth, so is best for fixed point-to-point links. If you adjust the dimensions to compro-mise lengths and angles, it can be ef-fectively used for up to a four-to-one frequency range.
