The purposes of this study were to 1) investigate the level of knowledge and understanding about tax filing and personal income tax payment, 2) examine the factors influencing the level of knowledge and understanding about tax filing and personal income tax payment in Hatyai District, Songkhla Province.
The research samples were 399 individuals who filed the income tax forms (Por. Ngor. Dor. 90 and 91) in fiscal year 2014, in Hatyai District, Songkhla Province. A set of questionnaires was the main instrument used to collect the data which was then analyzed by using frequency distribution, percentage, means, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis with significance level at 0.05
The study was revealed that the samples group had a moderate level of knowledge and understanding about tax filing and personal income tax payment. According to examination of the factors influencing the level of knowledge and understanding about tax filing and personal income tax payment, it was found that; 1) there were some factors showed positive relationships: concerning about tax news, participation in lectures or trainings about tax calculation, age, taxation study, education levels, experience in personal income tax calculation, familiar types of tax filing forms, and personal income tax filing channels, 2) the factors that showed negative relationships were gender, period of personal income tax calculation, occupations, personal income, and conditions of tax calculation, and 3) the factors with no relationships were tax refund, tax filings conditions, channels to receive personal income tax calculation regulations, and status.
