Thank you for this message. We certainly regret that you feel as though you must close your account. As much as Regions hates to lose a valuable customer like yourself, we understand your need to make decisions based on what you feel is the most convenient option. My name is Kahlie and I will be happy to assist you through this time of transition in closing your account.
To submit a closing request for a personal checking or savings account, please take note of the following:
The account must have a current positive (or zero) balance with no items pending.
Please allow all outstanding transactions to post to the account before requesting that it be closed.
Regions is required to honor any pre-authorized debits that are presented for payment. Please contact merchants to cancel all pre-authorized transactions that may be set up. If a charge is presented while we are in the process of closing the account, the item will cause the account to reopen. It will be necessary to submit an additional closing request once the items have cleared the account.
If the balance in the account is greater than $2.00 (but less than $1000.00), a check for the remaining funds will be mailed to the account address on file. You may visit a local branch location to withdraw the funds and close the account. To proceed with the closing request through this email channel, please complete the closing steps outlined above and confirm your current mailing address.
