Nine women participated. Mean age was 36 years. Responses to diagnosis included shock, fear, and shame. participants understood the need for treatment but remained confused about a etiology. Women who received information from registry physicians were more satisfied than those who received information from local hospital or general practice. Treatment and surveillance were experienced as protracted and emotionally difficult. Most intimate relationships were affected by the diagnosis. Grief and worry experienced by fathers was highlighted. Was participants expressed anxiety of recurrence.
