Buying an American Home
1. It was a brand-new home. It cost over $250,000. Sara Bergan of Bay Shore, New York, was ready to buy it, but her real estate agent gave her instruction for getting a home inspection first. Although Sarah did not went to make this process longer than it already was, she agreed. The inspector could not come out for two weeks. The Bergan family waited, and the inspection day finally arrived. They thought, "This is the day we can sign the papers for our first home!" However, the inspection took over four hours, and ended with Sarah receiving a list of twenty problems that the inspector encountered. The problems were relatively minor and would not cost a lot to fix, so the Bergans decided to buy house anyway. This inspection turned out to be a very important part of the home buying process.
