Improper Measurement Technique
In the case of an improper measurement technique, the idea of the measurement is correct,
but the measurement is made in such a way that the fault is not detected or apparent.
For example, if an electronic regulated power supply output is measured under no-load
conditions, the output can appear correct even if there is a base-emitter short in the seriespass
transistor. To detect the problem, the power supply must be loaded. Extender cards
will change the electrical characteristics of a high-speed, digital, low-level analog, or any
other system or circuit where lead length is important. Under these conditions, extender
cards might not be very useful.
