neighborhood areas
Vegetation structure
surrounding each plot was collected
once in the dry season (March and
April 2000) and once in the wet season
(October and November 2000). The
same scoring as the ground vegetation
inside the plot was used. The results
suggested that most of the vegetation
was significantly different between wet
and dry seasons. As in within-plot
results, grass, ferns and herbaceous
weeds (HW) decreased during the dry
season except for around plot 3 where
they increased. HW surrounding plot 3
had higher scores in the wet season
because PD plots had agricultural fields
nearby. In the wet season these contained rice or vegetables but in the dry season after harvesting,
these areas were covered by either grass, HW or bare ground.
