ACPY and 3-
methyl-2(5H)-furanone, were also found. A total of
12 new volatile compounds extracted with SC-CO2 were
identified and were different from the volatiles from SDE
and ethanol extraction. Although use of different conditions
of SC-CO2 resulted in different yield of ACPY, a
pressure of 200 bar, at 50 °C for a contact time of 20 min
gave the highest yield of ACPY. Combining SC-CO2
with ethanol co-solvent might be possible for enhancing
the yield of flavour extract from pandan leaves and
for replacing toxic organic solvent. This could also be a
realistic environmentally sound alternative method for
solvent extraction.
