and comfort, warmth and nurturing, protection and security. Therefore, unhealthy family relationships lead to various problems in children.
2. Problem Analysis
Because of these problems, Banromprakun have done the research about studying the problem, situation, welfare, quality of life of common families and 5 uncommon families’ types of 100 households in municipal area, Phitsanulok. Research found that;please also see research abstract in Annex 2
1. Common family situation
They acknowledge that love and relationship is very important but in practical they focus more on work rather than spending time with their family which trend to become a single family.30 per cent of parents lack knowledge or skill to solve the children’s behavior problem and children are not taught by their parents and this will be affect to their children in the future.
2. Problems and situations of 5 uncommon types of family.
2.1. 50 per cent of single parent family will have more stress and difficulty because they raise the child alone and cannot work and this kind of family tend to leave the child to grandparent or institutional childcare.
2.2. 35 percent of teen parents’ families have high level of domestic violence due to lack of maturity.
2.3. Grandparent-led Families; children are raised by their grandparents and Found that older people cannot meet the development of the child as their age. 99 per cent of this type of family has the difficulty and lack of food and need help.
2.4. 70 per cent of families with a chronically ill or disabled have more stress due to lack of means of livelihood and welfare.
2.5. 70 per cent of families who have poor economic condition have domestic violence; they are unmoral and drink alcohol every week. Parents lack of skills to teach their children and don’t know how to deal with family’s problem.
To sum up, all 5 types of families need to obtain the welfares and education. This problems need to be solve urgently because of the low quality of life which doesn’t meet the standards of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. These families problem cause an extreme negative impact on children that can result in emotional and psychological trauma.
An approach to help and develop the quality of life in both common and uncommon families is holistic approach to develop in 5 areas including educational, health, social, emotional and spiritual, and dwelling; by integrating all sectors in every organization associated by creating a strategy to develop families, developing the quality of life, educating to families about how to have a good relationship in family and put it in school curriculum in both formal education and non-formal education.
- The selection of a spouse and provide knowledge for parents about how to manage their families, parenting skills and how to solve child behavior problems.
- To build a strong Immune system for children by promoting virtue and ethics in family. To teach skills so that they can have career in order to solve the problem of children from drop out of school.
As the problems above; it’s very important to educate parents to be as effective as possible in raising children. We designed the course to improve parental effectiveness by providing a clear parenting philosophy and a set of positive parenting skills and strategies that can be used to address a variety of child rising and problem. For example, being the role model to the child, parenting skills discipline, strengthen family, learning how to raise children effectively, preparing their children for adulthood, teaching their children about sex, creating a safe home free from violence and hazards , building a good relation in family and so on.
