The first of DL research invokes two reactions. The first calls for a self-assessment of accomplishments by the research community. Which by any measure are impressive and successful. A second reaction usually come from the public and those who have provided funding and other resources for the research. It is the second and outside reaction we must discern carefully and use it to guide our future work. This paper has proposed a way to develop the next research agenda, not to incrementally improve what we have done before but to push the envelope of what is perceived possible in relation to other technologies, models of success, and to the society as a whole.
