Among serious disease, cancer seems to have a mystique all it's own. Even though some equally serious diseases are statistically more prevalent, people seem to fear cancer the most. Why this should be so is beyond the scope of this book to address. What we hope to have shown in this book is that cancer rehabilitation program we describe helps cancer survivors. It helps them live with their disease, its treatment, the disease or treatment side effects, and their aftereffects. The work that patients do in their cancer rehabilitation program helps them feel better physically and psychologically. We hope that these programs proliferate and that more health professionals become involved, to continue to explore ways of encouraging cancer survivors to discover and achieve the benefits of exercise and thus enhance their quality of life.
