Executive Director of Corporate Nursing, HMC
The Nursing Strategy was launched in April 2013; a two year strategy to build
the foundations of a world-class nursing service at HMC.
The focus of the first 12 months of the Strategy was on planning, reviewing
and creating business cases to implement changes across the nursing service.
The table that follows highlights the progress made against the actions set out
in the Strategy.
During the last 12 months we’ve made significant progress, including our
Nursing & Midwifery Education & Research Department (NMER) being
accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Beyond the goals outlined in the Strategy,
we’ve focused on improving communication and collaborations across our
service and we’ve launched both a nursing newsletter, The Nurse Advocate,
and a nursing microsite.
The Strategy reinforces the importance of providing patients with the best
possible care and will change the way in which HMC recruits, trains, organizes,
leads and integrates nurses into hospitals and clinics. The achievements
outlined in this report card are just the beginning. Over the coming 12 months
we will continue to establish the foundation for changes that are transforming
the Corporation’s nursing service to meet Qatar’s increasing healthcare
demands. It is important that the voice of every nurse across our service is
heard; so please contribute to shaping the future of nursing at HMC.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support.
