to date english plays an important role allowing people around the world to have increased opportunity
to communicate with and learn from each other moreover the phenomenon of using english as a tool for learning new things has increasad cooperatively worldwide . the student-exchange program in one
example of an educational collaboration project between universities and is an indication of incresing
mutualiy between people . cultural differences inevitably influence the communications and cooperation between people from different culturalres and backgrounds. ln this paper the notion of cultural differenaes explored by two well-known theorists hofstede (1994) and hall(1991) were reviewed as influences factors underlying the chinese student's communicaton in the contex of their host culture . moreover.several dimensions were exploerd within this subject. lnthe context of thailand being the host culture for chinese students it aimed to explore communication barriers of 28 chinese students by interviewing and scrutinizing their diaries . when the data was analyzed the findings revealed some diffculties in communication that chinese students faced during their stay in thailand. lt also ascertained the chinese student"s views on dimensions of cultural differences underling cross-cultura commnications in the host culture.
