It is to a consideration of these interactions that we now
turn. The next section describes these policies in greater
detail, and also the methodology followed in this study. The
following sections consider, in turn: the emergence of the
cooperative ideal in both policy and judicial contexts; the
ways in which these ideals intersected with local formulations
of joint and partnership working; and the encounters
between management control practices, cooperative ideals,
and particular professional enclosures.
