This life cycle cost analysis highlights that the construction
costs of rigid pavements are higher than the flexible ones, but
the lower maintenance and lighting costs permits a break-even
point before the fifth year of service life as regards JPCP, cheaper
than CRCP. Considering the lighting costs, both the rigid solutions
are economically more advantageous than the flexible one. The
study demonstrates the need for economic and financial assessments
in the long term, in order to identify the most cost effective
solution for the community
