The use of high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), such as time-of-flight (TOF), hybrid quadrupole-time-of-flight (QqTOF)or Orbitrap [29], is considered as a powerful alternative. These full-scan technologies provide the selectivity and the sensitivity required for efficient and wide-range screening, as they combine high, full-spectral sensitivity with high mass resolution, allowing the measurement of accurate mass of any ionisable component in the sample.
