Walk Tests
An alternative to the maximal run tests used to evaluate CRF is a one-mile walk test in which the HR is monitored during the test (60). The equation used to predict VO2 max was based on one population of men and women, aged 30 to 69, and was then validated on another comparable population. The subject walks as fast as possible for one mile on a flat, measured track, and HR is measured at the end of the last lap. The following equation can be used to estimate vo2 max (ml kg 1 min 1)
