To satisfy the various technological demands, a sufficient
interfacial adhesion between fibers and composite matrix is of
crucial importance [8,9]. In order to improve the interfacial adhesion
of UHMWPE fibers and polymer matrix, many methods for the
surface modification of UHMWPE fibers have been previously reported,
such as acid etching [10,11], plasma deposition [12,13] and
UV initiated graft copolymerization [14]. Through increasing the
roughness and functional groups on the fiber surface, the researchers
have proved the mechanical properties of UHMWPE fibers
reinforced polymer composites are improved.
