Clients are sometimes surprised that it’s possible to test wireframes, as they don’t look “real.”
However, our experience is that test participants are extremely able to suspend disbelief and
become engaged with extremely early stage concepts, even sketches. However, we have found that
it is extremely important to create a realistic user flow by ensuring that data is consistent from
screen to screen. Taking the shoe website example, ask the participant to imagine purchasing a
specific pair of shoes. Refer to the same shoes throughout the journey, ensure that the price is
consistent across screens, and make sure that the numbers in the shopping cart add up.
