Summary
Health political background
Against the background of demographic change and a
growing burden of chronic diseases health policy is faced
with the task to adequately invest the shortening resources
to assure high quality and affordable health care.
In this context, the importance of interventions to prevent
ill health and care dependency becomes apparent. Fall
prevention in the elderly seems an attractive option because
old age is not only associated with elevated fall
risk but also with an elevated risk of fall-related injuries.
The findings presented in this Health Technology Assessment
(HTA) Report are intended to support decisions for
effective and efficient resource use.
