The flipside of HTC's ODM business strategy was that the client seemed to have an inordinate amount of control. Even if Compaq accounted for 86 percent of HTC's revenue and the iPAQs made by HTC accounted for 80 percent of Compaq's annual shipments Compaq had no hesitation in looking for alternate sources of supply, such as LG Electronics. HTC had to diversify its revenue streams.
