The Research that went into this project is very direct; I looked at what was on the market in the way of innovative beer packaging, particularly that of craft and boutique beer, which stone and wood falls under. What I found was a lot of very artistic labelling but little to no experimental bottles, or cases. In other alcoholic beverages I found bottle shape to being a key defining feature and major part of the overall design with less attention focussed on the label as setting it apart in certain circumstances. This was my reasoning from trying something really different to set it apart, so that nothing else on the market looked anything like it, particularly within the confines of craft and boutique beer. Another discovery I made was that no craft or boutique beer (at all) used clear bottles, all had a brown tint, this for me gave me the idea to make stone and woods beer instantly stand out amongst other beers in bars and bottle shops before the actual designing itself had begun.
